Linda Wiebe

Linda Wiebe is a visual artist and educator living in Goderich, Ontario.  In these roles she is also a community artist sharing her creative energy in theatres, schools, churches, senior’s homes, women’s centres, historic gaols, music festivals, the woods, libraries… with people of all ages. Alone in her studio she is continually open to new possibilities for representation and creates images using found objects, photographs, hand made paper, words… combined with encaustic medium a mixture of beeswax, dammar resin and pigment.

My images are soul maps.  They come from the archetypal world of myth or dream and serve as a guide to the viewer’s imagination.  The visions that are received from these images are intended as a bridge to the viewer’s own “image nation.” In this “nation” anything can happen.  Journeys are taken to the unknown. Transformations occur from one state of being into another. There are visits from spiritual beings and ancestors.  Figures emerge with coloured energy lines identifying sources within that tell new truths.  Gateways form for you to enter.  My work is an offering of inspiration and invites the viewer to become a creator--transforming the world one artist at a time.
